More on Visual Google
A computer researcher is developing a search engine which accepts image/photo as input, and uses that to search through its database, and returns details of the item.

For example, a snapshot of a strange looking car might return detailed description of its make, model, specs and prices.

Most of the time, it is probably quicker to enter a search string than uploading a search image.

However it can still be useful if the subject is unknown to you, but you still rely on the database maintainer to have that subject in the database.

There are also problems with specifying the subject (ie which item you're searching for in a photo with so many subjects).

This can be useful, it just depends on your usage. This kind of image search means the image is searched for based on what the image looks like, not by what words are around it. It is a useful tool, and an interesting area of research. Ian
